Project Three

Genre One: Text Based Essay

Francis Eppes has become a controversial figure on campus, there are fliers up around campus demonizing him, and a campaign to remove his name and legacy from campus. The fliers and those who call for his removal however, do not tell who he is. Eppes is the grandson of founding father Thomas Jefferson, he served as mayor of Tallahassee for many years, was active in advocating for education, and most importantly he was the founder of Florida State University. He fought to bring a public university to Tallahassee; he created a building for it, set aside $10,000 of his own money for it, and created a $2,000 a year stipend to help it grow. The fliers and campaign also fail to mention that just two years ago there was a college wide vote to remove Eppes which failed 71% against the removal to 29% for it. After those in favor of the removal lost, they staged a protest. I intend to help make this issue more than one sided by creating and distributing fliers to tell the other side of the story, the story of our founder, Francis Eppes.

I wrote about what who Eppes was and what he did because it seems like very few people actually know much about him. Even though he founded the University, there isn't much talk about him

Genre Two: Flier

Click on each icon in the flier for more information.

I created a flier with digital links to my Wix site, my instagram page, and to a facebook page dedicated to keep Francis Eppes on campus.

Fliers are a good way to catch people's attention, they've been used as long as people have been literate and wanted to spread ideas and knowledge. Florida State has a huge amount of fliers, and places to put them, so I decided to create my own.

Genre Three: Instagram Site

Instagram is a very popular photo-sharing social media outlet. I created a website to talk about the legacy of Francis Eppes and FSU.
